BAOMS welcomes RCS England launch of certification system for cosmetic surgery
A positive move to protect patients

Welcoming the launch today of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCSEng) certification system for cosmetic surgery, Caroline Mills, British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (BAOMS) Surgical Specialty Interest Group Lead on Aesthetic/Cosmetic Surgery and Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon at Great Ormond Street Hospital, said:
“BAOMS is pleased to welcome the RCS certification system for cosmetic surgery, which has been developed in consultation with us and other specialities in this field. Robust regulation for cosmetic surgery is vital to protect patients and will help them identify a highly trained surgeon.
“BAOMS represents a group of highly specialised facial surgeons, and many specialise in cosmetic (facial aesthetic) surgery. We will be encouraging and supporting colleagues providing facial aesthetics to apply for certification."
