The Norman Rowe International Educational Foundation (NRIEF) is a sub-committee of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (BAOMS).
Mr Sunil Sah, current NRIEF Chair, has been working with the surgical faculty at the University of Ghana to develop a Free Flap Raising Course, which will take place at University of Ghana on 5-11 July 2026.
The aim is to deliver high-level training in microvascular free flap reconstruction for surgeons across Ghana and the wider West African region.
The programme will bring together an international faculty from the UK and Ghana to train 15–20 surgeons, including oral and maxillofacial surgeons, head and neck surgeons, ENT specialists, and plastic surgeons. The course will combine:
- Didactic lectures on principles of microvascular free flap surgery
- Hands-on cadaveric dissection workshops
- Case-based discussions and reconstructive planning sessions
The course is being partially supported by KLS Martin
You can support NRIEF work via BAOMS - JustGiving delivering advanced surgical training that strengthens local healthcare systems and improves patient access to reconstructive surgery throughout West Africa. A donation today helps train surgeons who will provide life-changing care for patients for years to come.
