There are 3 Training Interface Groups which include Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and where it is possible for trainees from other specialties to spend time in an OMFS department to learn skills relevant to their area of interest. In addition, such fellowships are open for OMFS trainees to do likewise from other specialties involved.
The fellowships areas and specialties involved are:
Cleft, Lip, and Palate Surgery - Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Otolaryngology, and Plastic Surgery
Cosmetic Reconstructive Surgery - Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Otolaryngology, Plastic Surgery, General Surgery (Breast) and Ocular-Plastic Surgery (this falls under Ophthalmology)
Head and Neck Surgical Oncology - Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Otolaryngology, and Plastic Surgery.
