Apologies - we have now revised this deadline to allow more time for submissions.
Would you benefit from a Post-CCT Fellowship or could your unit(s) offer a Post-CCT Fellowship?
Many of the other surgical specialty associations have developed programmes to link surgeons in need of post CCT training, to a unit or units willing to provide that training. I have taken on as my BAOMS Presidential Project, the challenge to do this for OMFS. The project is also outlined in the BAOMS Newsletter that has recently been sent out.
The process is in two parts. Firstly, trainees or existing consultants can apply for training in a particular area that is not covered within the existing Training Interface Fellowships and secondly, a unit or units can present a case for a post CCT Fellow to receive that training. If required, funding is available from BAOMS for the first of these fellowships
Individual application: Post-CCT fellowships (PCCTF)
If you are a trainee at the end of training and in need of specific training that is not otherwise covered in detail by the curriculum, or you are about to take up a post in a unit which needs a surgeon with skills outside those of a CCT/TIG fellowship, or you are an established surgeon whose unit needs you to expand your skills in a specific area, please take the time to look at the documentation on the below.
2. Unit(s) application: Post-CCT fellowships (PCCTF)
If you work in a unit or within a network of units which you feel are in a position to offer a PCCTF with skills outside those of a CCT/TIG fellowship, please look at the documentation below.
What will be the role of BAOMS in these PCCTFs?
BAOMS hopes to act as a match-maker between the Post CCT fellow and programmes proposing training. BAOMS has agreed initial financial support, which as a minimum, will pay the fees needed to support the application to the RCS for their Senior Fellowship programme. The more funding the potential fellow can bring, and the host unit(s) can offer, the higher the likelihood that the fellowship will be sustainable. For the first of these fellowships, full funding is available if required.
If a fellow presents a case of need for training not offered in the ‘first round’, or a programme offers training for which there is no matching fellow, a second round will be advertised.
The deadline for receipt is as soon as possible but before 12 noon BST Wednesday 31 May 2017. Please apply to the office
It is hoped that the first successful post CCT fellow will be in post by the Autumn of this year. On behalf of BAOMS we very much look forward to expressions of interest from trainees and training units,
